What a notary can and can't do

I verify identity, make sure the signer is signing willingly, and complete the notarial certificate. I can't give legal advice, draft documents or tell you what to sign. For that, talk to an attorney.

What ID do I need?

A current government-issued photo ID, such as a driver's license, state ID or passport, for each signer.

Can you meet at a coffee shop?

Yes, as long as it's quiet enough to review the documents.
