Paperwork after a loss, handled where you are

In the days after a death, families face forms that need a notary. I come to the funeral home or your kitchen table, so you don't have to go looking for one.

Hospital, nursing home or funeral home: travel and service from $125, plus $5 per notarized signature.

Documents families often need notarized

  • Authorizations a funeral home asks to have notarized, such as when a family member signs away from the funeral home
  • Affidavits about the deceased's heirs or property
  • Vehicle title and bank paperwork for the estate
  • Documents an estate attorney prepares for signature

For funeral directors

If a family member can't come in to sign, call me. I'll go to them, notarize the document and return it to you, with an itemized receipt to the family. Many funeral homes keep my number on file for exactly this.

What a notary can and can't do

I verify identity, make sure the signer is signing willingly, and complete the notarial certificate. I can't give legal advice, draft documents or tell you what to sign. For that, talk to an attorney.

Questions people ask

Does every funeral form need a notary?

No. Many forms are simply signed at the funeral home. A notary is needed when the funeral home or the document asks for one; your funeral director will tell you which.

Can you come to our home instead?

Yes. I'll come wherever the family is most comfortable.
