Pricing questions

Why is the notary fee only $5?

Illinois law caps the fee for each notarial act at $5. Anything above that is a travel or service fee for coming to you, which must be agreed in advance and listed separately on your receipt.

What counts as one notarial act?

Generally each notarized signature. Two people signing one document is usually two acts; one person signing three documents is three.

Do you charge if the signing can't happen?

If I arrive and the signer can't sign, such as missing ID or not being alert enough, the travel fee still applies, since the trip was made. I'll always ask the right questions first to avoid that.

How can I pay?

Ask when you book; I'll confirm the payment options for your visit.
